Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Letterain (the "App"), developed by Cloud Design Studio LLC ("we", "us", "our"), handles information when you use the App. It applies to Letterain on both Apple iOS (from the App Store) and Google Android (from Google Play). We've kept the App's data collection minimal on purpose.

The short version: Letterain works without an account. Your game data stays on your device. We show ads via Google AdMob and process purchases through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). We don't collect names, emails, or contacts — nothing that identifies you personally.

1. Information stored on your device

Letterain stores the following locally on your device — in UserDefaults on iOS and DataStore on Android — so the game works between sessions:

Your personal best score and best word
Your settings preferences (sound, music, and haptics on/off)
Whether you've seen the first-launch tutorial
Whether you've purchased Letterain Pro
A counter used to time interstitial ads between games

This data never leaves your device. We do not transmit it to our servers — in fact, we do not operate any game server. Deleting the App removes all of it.

2. Friend challenges

When you share a challenge from a game-over screen, the App builds a shareable message containing your final score (and, where supported, the round's random seed so a friend can play the same letters), then hands it to your device's native share sheet for you to send — via Messages, social apps, or anything else you choose. We do not send it to our servers, we do not see who you challenged, and we do not store it ourselves.

When a friend opens the link on a device with Letterain installed, the game runs locally on their device — no server is involved.

3. Advertising

Free-tier players see an interstitial advertisement periodically between games. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. To serve ads, AdMob may access your device's advertising identifier and related ad-request data.

On iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework asks your permission before AdMob may use your device's Advertising Identifier (IDFA) for personalized ads.
On Android, we present Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form where it is required (for example, for users in the EEA and UK), and AdMob may use the device's Advertising ID for ads.

If you decline or limit consent, you'll still see ads, but they will be non-personalized. Letterain Pro removes all ads; once Pro is active, the App stops requesting ads from AdMob.

4. In-app purchases

The Letterain Pro upgrade is processed by the platform's store — Apple's App Store (StoreKit) on iOS and Google Play Billing on Android. The store handles the payment and provides us only the entitlement (a yes/no flag confirming you bought it). We never see your credit card, billing address, or store account credentials.

Restoring your purchase on a new device queries the respective store's servers via the same billing framework.

5. Crash reports and analytics

Letterain does not integrate any third-party analytics SDK (no Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar). We do not track your gameplay sessions, screen views, or feature usage.

If you opt in to sharing diagnostics with the platform — Apple (iOS) or Google (Android) — the platform may forward crash reports to us through App Store Connect or the Google Play Console. These contain technical stack traces, not personal information.

6. Children

Letterain is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through any contact, please reach out at the email below and we'll delete it.

7. Your choices

Opt out of personalized ads (iOS) — decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt, or change it any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Opt out of personalized ads (Android) — delete or reset your Advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads, or update your choice via Google's consent form.
Delete the App — removes all locally stored data immediately, on both platforms.

8. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how Letterain handles data, we'll update this page and bump the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
